A Bit of History
The Mohawk Valley of New York State witnessed countless battles during both the French and Indian War and the American Revolution, including the British raid of October 1780, which targeted the wheat supply for George Washington's army. In that raid alone, the British forces burned over six hundred houses and barns in the valley.
Built in the style known as a “center hall colonial,” our inn features Dutch-style, hand-hewn timber framing and wide pine floors. We rebuilt the inn exterior with a Southwest “Territorial style” to fit the surrounding buildings, and decorated each of the four suites in a different New York theme: The Catskill, The Adirondack, The Eire Canal and The Hudson.
You can view the entire restoration process, documented as part of the Magnolia Network show Restoration Road, on the Discovery network.
